Zomerspul
Spring = short sleeves:

Cool dude
Iedereen heeft een denim jack nodig, ook kleine meisjes. Wie zegt dat jeans altijd blauw moet zijn?
Everybody needs a denim jacket, even little girls. Who says denim needs to be blue?
Het was een labor of love, ik heb er mijn back-up naaimachine voor tevoorschijn gehaald. Bijna iedere naad moet doorgestikt worden, geen Jeans zonder topstitching. Maar het is met ander garen èn een andere naald, van al dat heen en weer kreeg ik een slecht humeur, dus 2 machines was erg handig. Ik had het briljante idee een tweelingnaald met topstitchgaren te gebruiken, dat kan ik je niet aanraden, het was een hele toer voor mijn machine. Twee dikke draden door de spanningsschijven is blijkbaar een flinke klus, ik kreeg het aan de binnenkant dan ook niet netjes en de machine maakte flinke lussen bij iedere verdikking. Daarom ziet het er aan de binnenkant niet zo mooi uit.
Ik was a labor of love, I had to set up my back-up machine. Almost every seam has two rows of topstitching and the switching from normal needle/normal thread to topstitch needle/topstiching thread and back was too much. I had the briljant idea to thread a twin needle with topstitching thread, but I guess that 2 thick threads was a bit much for the tension discs. I don't recommend it. No matter how much I played with the tensions, I couldn't get it right and the machine looped terribly at every bump. So the inside of the jacket is not so pretty, but overall I am very happy with the result. And how do you sew a corner with a twin needle?
Al met al ben ik wel tamelijk tevreden. Die tweelingnaald/topstichgaren- combinatie zal ik niet zo snel meer gebruiken, dan maar 2 keer doorstikken. Heb je je wel eens afgevraagd hoe je met een tweelingnaald een hoek kunt naaien zoals op de zakklep?

Met dit patroon ben ik heel blij. Het past Saskia heel goed en die kraag is eens wat anders. Het moest een test-shirt worden, maar het werd een hit!
I am very pleased with this pattern. The fit is excellent en the collar changes things up a bit. It was supposed to be a test-shirt, but it turned out a hit!

En omdat het grijze garen nog in de cover machine zat, ook nog snel een shirt voor Thomas gemaakt:

I am very pleased with this pattern. The fit is excellent en the collar changes things up a bit. It was supposed to be a test-shirt, but it turned out a hit!

En omdat het grijze garen nog in de cover machine zat, ook nog snel een shirt voor Thomas gemaakt:

Verder met 2 setjes: tuniek + leggings. Ik vond de tuniek best leuk, maar op de één of andere manier is het het nèt niet. De blauwe is te lang, de grijze te breed. Maar Saskia vind de zakken interessant en zo kon ik wat oefenen met de coverstitch machine.
Next up are two sets, tunic + leggings. I like the idea of the tunic, but somehow it doesn't really work. The blue one is too long, the grey one too wide. However, Saskia really likes the pockets and I had a chance to practice my coverstitching skills.

Nog meer jurkjes
Het is weer een tijdje geleden, maar we gaan toch verder! Eerst maar de winter jurkjes:

Door een stomme knipfout had ik niet genoeg stof om de ruit op het achterpand perfect te laten doorlopen. Dit jurkje heeft ze dan ook alleen thuis aan gehad, je kan een kind tenslotte niet met een niet-doorlopende print de straat op sturen, nietwaar?
I made a stupid cutting mistake which left me with not enough fabric to have the print continue on the back. So she has only be wearing this dress at home, you can not send out a kid in public with a non-continuing print, can you?
